Description
Takedown Pins are a small but a very important part of an AR-15 is what holds the upper and lower receivers together. In other words, a takedown pin is the part which holds the rifle together. All you have to do to disassemble the rifle is just slide out the pin and you’ll end up having an upper and a lower receiver separately. AAT Aluminum Anodized TakeDown Pins are are made from T-7075 Aluminum and are available in a variety of colors. Takedown Pins make for easy and quick separation of the front and lower halves and eliminate the need for a pin punch.
The front pin (also known as pivot pin) is located above the grip and is held in place by a takedown detent and detent spring, hidden inside the receiver. The rear pin is located right on the pistol grip below the buffer tube port.
